Sources Of Greenhouse Gases Emissions

New study says over half of all greenhouse gases caused by livestock – going vegan soon?
A new study sponsored by the Worldwatch Institute finds that:
————————————
“”Our analysis shows that livestock and their byproducts actually account for at least 32,564 million tons of Co2e per year, or 51% of annual worldwide GHG [greenhouse gas] emissions”"
————————————
So, if you believe that climate change is one of the biggest threats humanity and the environment faces, will you give up meat, dairy and eggs and become a vegan?
Or do you think the issue is so serious, that the government should either tax meat more heavily or make veganism compulsory?
Or do you think this is another flawed study on climate change with an agenda?
What’s your view?

i’ve not read the whole article, but consider that all of the CO2 produced by cattle came from carbon extracted from the atmosphere by plants. There is virtually no new carbon introduced into the environment here, unlike burning fossil fuel.
that said, if we were all vegetarian, there’d be enough food to feed twice as many of us because animals are rather inefficient at converting solar energy into food calories.
without considering the morality of growing animals for food, the conclusion should be that (A) there are too many people, and (B) more people need to become vegetarian.
i’ve seen this cattle argument posted numerous times. It’s interesting (depressing) though, how many folks, having read that cattle are only releasing CO2 for which the C has been removed from the atmosphere, continue to post that it’s a reason for the CO2 increase. It shows that there are those who cannot be educated, either because of capacity, or because of desire not to be, or, that truth is not of value to them.
